I just pulled up my last post entitled New Year's Resolution and, well, it seems that resolutions are made to be broken. :-/
But in my defense, I did graduate college, and I got married. I just got my hours at work increased which will do wonders for me (and certainly won't hurt my dream goal of 'get a new computer').
I was tempted to release what I had now, but where I am with the mod, I'd give away too much in spoilers and then not deliver on them. So I can't do that.
I do have more plans, though. And I did get that cut scene more or less set up. But it all. Involves. Spriting.
But really, though, I'd say I'm a couple boss fights and two levels away from being done with this game. The levels are flatter than I'd like, and the wall textures on some of the later levels are meh and boring, and I'm not sure how hard it is (and how much difficulty is due to "there's like two revenants right in my face wtf" as opposed to being good, well-designed maps), and I want to do more decoration to make it look more hive-like; but yeah. It's close.

Thanksgiving
I'm grateful for computers, doom, ponies, muscle memory, computer mice (have you ever tried using doombuilder with a touchpad? Don't), flash drives (one that contains all of raridoom) that don't disappear, paychecks, and for the fact that my wife (who I am also grateful for, btw) agrees with me on just how crazy my family is.
Happy thanksgiving!

Today on YouTube...
I found this video.
Someone has made a DooM map... in the shape of Rarity. I think this is mildly relevant.
Also I haven't gotten anything done for this mod in forever and am a terrible content creator. Sorry! But fear not, I refuse to let Raridoom just die.

New Year's Resolution:
Finish this thing.
Maybe finish my other project, too.
Just a little short on motivation. I know what I'm going to do. I've found lots of good music. I've found a few techniques that I think will work well for what I want.
Also I was planning on doing a reunion cutscene towards the end, but now I'm not so sure. Mostly because it would also involve spriting. And we all know how much I love spriting.
Either way, I'll get it done. And that's a Pinkie Promise.

Memories
It's funny, really. I was watching some of AltimaMantoid's new videos (Doom II Master Levels) and I was like, "I should work on Raridoom... for the first time in ages."
So I did.
It's comforting to know that my fingers still remember the shortcuts, and remember where they go on the keyboard. I can still make little pools of slime and little stairs easily, and placing enemies is easy.
I also still forget to sometimes mark doors as doors, leaving them just retextured walls that do not open when I press them. So that's nice that that hasn't changed.
I'm having fun with this level. Hopefully I finish.
UPDATE 10.10.2015 I have finished. And I jumpscared myself with one of the traps I set in the level so I think it's ready.
Only one way to find out, though.

I am debating livestreaming.
I'm terrible at updating, and remaining focused on anything. For example, I released open beta 3, fixed a couple of the bugs people commented on... and then I let it lay dormant for months.
But I'm volunteering for my college hockey team and they made me the play-by-play announcer for the home games. That's pretty difficult because hockey doesn't slow down. At all. There's no time for color commentary or anything except for penalties and goals, and they're just so stinking fast that it's hard to see which player they actually are.
But the point is, I really enjoyed it. And I have the software they used for streaming. So maybe I'll try one of my own.
I doubt it would go on for very long. And it would probably be mostly maps and map testing (because I really don't like spriting). But would that be something people would be interested in?
This Saturday is looking pretty open.
