So earlier I was putting the final touches on a map. Moved around some keys, made sure the required backtracking wasn't awful, and decided, yeah, it's done.
Complete and with everything locked down? Doubtful; I always feel like my levels are bland and need a bit more decoration so I'll probably take another pass.
Beatable? Yes.
...probably. I couldn't; but I usually test from a pistol start, and by this point you should have plenty of weapons and mana.
It then occurred to me that this was map 15. That's about halfway done with the game.
I'm not sure how I feel about this.
On one hand, yeah, almost halfway done! That's great! I might finish this before G6 releases after all!
On the other, that's still only halfway done. And these next maps will need to be even better, because they're further in the game. I think that's how it's supposed to work, anyway (cough chasm, cough nirvana, and I would say downtown but I totally put a couple arrows in E4M6 so I won't).
And my end goal is to make this a standalone .ipk3, so it'll run without needing an iwad/any other resources aside from the uzdoom engine (but last time I tested that, there were a great many things I hadn't actually made yet [see: all the weapon sprites and most of the wall textures] so that idea was immediately discarded). Open Beta 1 will probably not go for that. I'm not sure when that will come out. Hopefully soon. It's mostly the weapon sprites left. I also considered renaming them to sound more like a spell name from the show but I think the old names are going to come back. Dispersio sounds cool but Spreadshot is easier to understand when you've got changelings all around.
