One of my levels (E3M7) is entitled, "Afraid of the dark?" Like the name implies, it's a really dark level, especially in this huge maze-like section. You could barely see in front of you.
And the only lantern in the map was in a secret place I'd completely forgotten about.
Suffice it to say that I am now afraid of the dark. Especially after needing to resurrect like five times in the level because Trixielings are popping out of nowhere.
So now it's a bit brighter. You're welcome.
there's also a little more ammo because have you ever tried to punch out a Trixieling Mage [arachnotron]? Doesn't work, 0/10, do not recommend
It's strange, despite Doom is supposed to be a creepy game, I don't think it was ever about fear, as it doesn't provide enough realistic setting for the term to make any sense - at least with NPC dialogue support still not there.
ReplyDeleteNot that it should have. Doom had its strange corridors. What it needed was trees and butterflies.
No, not too much fear. Not counting the fear of "I have no idea what's coming but I know I don't have enough ammo for it", that is. ;-)
